National Day coincides with Mid-Autumn Festival, happy double holidays!
The origins of China's National Day can be traced back to October 1, 1949. At that time, after a long and arduous struggle, the Chinese people overthrew the Kuomintang government and established the People's Republic of China. To celebrate this historic moment, the first Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China designated October 1 as National Day.
Since 1950, China has held grand celebrations every year on National Day, including military parades, theatrical performances, and mass parades, showcasing the country's achievements and unity. National Day also serves as a day off for the nation, with many people using it to reunite with family or travel. National Day not only celebrates the founding of the People's Republic of China but also serves as an important occasion to inspire the nation to strive for building a modern socialist country.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Full Moon Festival or the Reunion Festival, is one of China's most important traditional festivals, traditionally celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. Its origins can be traced back to the ancient custom of worshiping the moon, which is closely associated with the autumn harvest and family reunions.
As early as the Tang Dynasty, celebrations of the full moon and family reunion were already a tradition during the Mid-Autumn Festival. According to tradition, the 15th day of the eighth lunar month marks the midpoint of autumn, the harvest season. On this day, people offer sacrifices to the moon to express gratitude for the bountiful harvest. Over time, this day has come to encompass family reunions.
Mid-Autumn Festival customs include moon-gazing, eating mooncakes, carrying lanterns, and reciting poetry. Mooncakes, as the festival's signature food, symbolize reunion and good wishes. Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated not only in China but also in other countries and regions, such as Vietnam and South Korea.
In short, Mid-Autumn Festival is a significant festival that blends agricultural culture, family reunions, and cultural traditions. It embodies people's yearning for a better life and their cherishment of family ties.
To celebrate both holidays, our company will be closed from October 1st to October 6th, and to celebrate the prosperity of our country.
